How to turn Hey Copilot on or off in Windows 11
Microsoft now lets Windows 11 users activate Copilot by saying “Hey Copilot.” This makes it easy to use Copilot hands-free, so you don’t need the keyboard or mouse. Here’s how you can enable or disable this feature.
To enable Hey Copilot:
- Open the Copilot app on your Windows 11 device.
- Tap your profile icon (bottom left corner in the sidebar, if needed).
- Click on “Settings.”
- Scroll down to the Voice section.
- Turn on “Listen for ‘Hey Copilot’ to start a conversation.”

Once it’s enabled, just say “Hey Copilot” and you’ll see a microphone overlay. You can ask questions, open apps, or say “goodbye” to end the session. It shuts down automatically after a few seconds of silence.
To disable Hey Copilot:
- Open the Copilot app and go to your profile.
- Click on “Settings.”
- Scroll down to the Voice section.
- Turn off “Listen for ‘Hey Copilot’ to start a conversation.”
Turning off this feature stops Copilot from listening for your voice commands.
Summary:
Hey Copilot gives you a quick way to use Copilot on Windows 11. It’s helpful for multitasking and accessibility. If you don’t want it, you can disable it with a few clicks in the Copilot app settings.
