Enabling Split Screen in Microsoft Edge via Intune
Why Enable Split Screen?
Split Screen lets users view two web pages side-by-side within a single tab. This improves multitasking, reduces tab switching, and boosts productivity for research, data entry, and comparison tasks.
Policy Name and Behavior
- Policy: SplitScreenEnabled
- Data type: Boolean
- Behavior:
- Enabled (or Not Configured): Split Screen is available
- Disabled: Split Screen is blocked
Step-by-Step: Create an Intune Configuration Profile
- Sign in to the Microsoft Endpoint Manager portal (https://endpoint.microsoft.com).
- Select Devices > Configuration > Create.
- Under Platform, choose Windows 10 and later.
- Under Profile type, select Settings catalog. Click Create.
- On the Basics tab:
- Name: Enable Edge Split Screen
- Description: Allow split screen feature in Edge
Click Next.
- On the Configuration settings tab:
- Click + Add settings.
- In the search box, type SplitScreenEnabled.
- Select Enable split screen feature in Microsoft Edge.
- Set the value to Enabled.
Click Next.
- (Optional) On Scope tags, add tags if you need to limit admin access. Click Next.
- On Assignments, choose the user or device groups that need split screen. Click Next.
- Review the settings and click Create.
Devices will receive the policy at the next sync. Users must restart Edge to apply the change.
Verification
On a targeted device:
- Open Microsoft Edge and restart if already open.
- Click the Split Screen icon (two-pane icon) next to the address bar.
- Choose Split to open the current tab in two panes.
If the icon is missing, ensure policy is applied and Edge has been restarted.
